Old Nisa is an archaeological site over 2,000 years old, associated with the ancient Achaemenid Empire, the Seleucid Empire, and the Parthian Empire. In ancient times, the enormous fortress boasted 9-meter-high walls, concealing the ruler's palace, temples, and outbuildings. During the excavations, various structures and objects in the Hellenistic style were discovered, as the troops of Alexander the Great once passed through Nisa.
